CNG fueling in vehicles
Due to the continous rise in oil prices for the last 3 years pakistan gains the position of third largest user of compressed natural gas, CNG for moving vehicles after barzil & argentine.
Newly inroduced cng car for public transport in karachi.
CNG being an alternative fuel for cars gets precedence few years ago when international oil prices went up, as a result oil importers rise their prices in home market.surveys shows that almost 900,000 vehicles in last 3 years have converted to CNG (i also did last year, cost me RS 24000) & presently there is more then 100,000 vehicles converted(means installed cng kit provided with gas cylinder).recently many public transport vechicles like buses, vans, rikshaws are made cng compatible.converting vehicle for cng fuel compatible cost between 23000 to 30000 (paki rupees).
CNG is cheaper then that of HSD & petrol, the cost of CNG is RS 1.5 to 3 per kilometer (depends upon vehicle size) . fuel combustion made by CNG did’nt effect environment.(it creats less toxic smoke).though pakistan did not have enough oil resources that fulfill country needs but one the other hand is among few lucky countries having resoures of natural gas.
