Mass media, Musharraf Vs Zia
Every military dictator experienced by the state of pakistan has its own pro & cons, like the situation arises when we see the two presidents from military have conflicts in the policies against the freedom of press & the expansion of media. general zia ul haq came to power as 6th president of pakistan ofter the death of zulfikar ali bhutoo & ruled the country from 1977 to 1988. he was the third person to impose material law. during his rule several newspapers are banned, many poets & scholars are punished, similarly mass media was treated under the cannons of censorship. newspaper publications are bound to follow strict policies. in that situation media is not free to express public opinion & that time was considered the worse time for mass media.
As general pervez musharraf come in to rule in 1999 the country is likely to observe under material law again. but thanks GOD musharraf come up with the title of chief executive & NO material law was imposed. during his rule mass media got great expansions & the ministry of information & broadcasting licensed several private TV/ radio channels & newspapers. the freedom & expansion that mass media gains this time is not observed before in the history of pakistan. thus one side of the coin is pretty good & musharraf policy of enlightened moderation is preferable. as it makes media more free & powerful.

thats one thing for which i would support musharaf….
You know i was gonna blog about the Media Freedom sooner when i saw the Hum Sab Umeed Say Hain on GEO tv yesterday!!
Watch out~ Great going Bilal~
true … i totally support your point …
well musharaf has given media to expand a lot more than what it actually was.
