Gone is time when access to information & entertainment was a real delimiter among different areas of the world, people were cling with their local believes & cultural values. Every place have a unique way to celebrate their joys by singing or using different musical instruments. Most of the time at one place, it take years to get familiar with the discoveries of surrounding continents. The communication among people of different nations are really slow or even dead. while animals like, horse & camel were used for transportation. I know most of the readers know about this chapter of history but the purpose of recalling this is to compare the past with the current trends of music, entertainment & socialization.

Music has the relation with human that is very old. It is also found in the roots of ancient civilizations. from prehistoric music to the current digitally lyrics of music, it exists with us at every age, however the tools of music has been altered with the passage of time. currently the pop music culture is all about what we called digital music with computer generated lyrics & voice alteration. yet i like it both classical & pop, but pop mostly because the lyrics made by guitar is stunning, one of my friend plays guitar well, I wounder how he learn it in a little time. but lately when i found some Guitar instruction dvds in the market i got the answer. I concluded here that now we are in the era where access to entertainment & social networking is quite easy but it is digitalized, we rarely meet people in real life, but can communicate with them using digital tools like phone & internet. Listning to music is no deal today but the real jolly of life exists in old music & warmth social interactions.

Yes! that day the sky was dark & it was drizzling outside after a month of hot weather. but inside the house the situation was totally different. not a single drop of water was coming through the taps. however at that moment all the people in the town was joyous after being tormented by the immense hot weather. unfortunately soon after a while the sky became clear, leaves no sign of rain.

The people of the town realized that there is nothing good in their fate. one the other hand they disapproved the local government. according to them the local government has failed to provide them the basic necessities of life. the dilemma is that day it was water that had betrayed them, on day electricity would not be willing to illuminate their residence, and on some other day water leaking from the water cooler would cause one or more inhabitants to slip on the marble floor. There was no end to their hardships and the local government of that small town was responsible for this deplorable predicament. Finally one day the troubled citizens got together and held a meeting to come up with a plan to force the local government to fulfill their just demands of provision of basic facilities. All sorts of propositions from writing pleas to the mare to going on strike were discussed but a consensus could not be reached.

A guest who had witnessed the whole proceeding spoke up and his speech silenced all the complaints and the crowd dispersed within a few minutes. The young voice said, “It’s been a week that I have been living among you at my cousin’s house and I have observed a lot in this little time. You complain of shortage of water yet you leave taps running, you are bothered by power shutdowns and still you forgot to turn off the lights before leaving for work, you realize that the local government does not fulfill its duties; have you ever judged yourself, do you qualify for a responsible citizen? you simply waste energy and resources. You are getting what you deserve however, if you want an improvement in this situation then change yourself it will ultimately makes a change in the whole society & the government of the country.

The world with growing technologies & infrastructure, Life has became a delusive exercise in most of the cases, In one hand modern technologies has enable us to perform different tasks more easily & effectively as it was in past but on the other hand with the growing world everything seems to be commercialize & thus every act every relation loses its natural flavor. Today every act has some commercial objective. People talk to someone because there are some direct or indirect commercial intentions in it. Either it is the establishment of good relationship with the future client or in some other case people have had social interaction with people because they needs to fulfill a well directed course of action. Yet there are very few relations which can be considered as the genuine & pure. That mostly belongs to people to whom you have a very close affiliation. The world is a market & it goes on with the policy of give & take.

Yet the other side of the coin is much more deceptive when publicity & advertisement campaigns hit the masses. Even every other day many of the non profit organizations (NGOs) rose up with touchy slogans to collect a good amount of fund from people & donor organization but in actual they have nothing to do with the development of needy & poor people. Social media marketing & social networking is no doubt a powerful tool in this regard. There are some great social media tools which are used for the dissemination of different messages to people from different interest of life purely for commercial purpose.

You might be familiar to Facebook, one of the top social networking website with highly growing visitors over the web these days. It enables you to connect with your friends & peers, interact with people & communities related to your interest from all over the world in a smart way. Facebook history reveals that it was initiated back in 2003 as a local Students community portal by Mark Zuckerberg a student at Harvard University in USA. However today facebook Inc is known as a private organization run by more then 700 workers with the annual recorded revenue more then 300 million.

Anyhow, few moments before I came across an interesting news at BBC so thought to share with you folks. According to the details a female worker in Switzerland was fired from his job while she is on medical leave. That happens when her boss caught her online at facebook. Her boss writes the reason in the termination latter that early she states in the leave application that due to illness she needs bed rest & the doctor told her not to work on computer. So by no chance during leave she can work on computer at home. She breaches her own statement & the trust of me so she is no more allowed to work. However the worker in defending her says that she was browsing facebook from her iphone while taking rest on bed. Anyhow this sort of news is no new these days. Facebook is more then addiction for most of us. People waste their time by browsing it during work for no reason that is why it’s browsing is banned at most of the schools, colleges & work places.

In my part of the world, weather is quite beautiful these days. But the breeziness in air that silently approached the window of my room making the moments fresh will not last for more then just a couple of weeks. The next month will be the start of summers & then gradually the heat of the sun will increase. I like summers no doubt but when unexpected & unidentified electricity breakdowns makes your life hell then how can you love it. While keeping in mind the situation in last summer where the country faces severe electricity problem it is hard for me to accept that again summer is chasing us. Anyhow now we have to face it but I hope this year the government must have taken some serious steps to minimize electricity failure, if not, then again the business of electricity generators & UPS (uninterrupted power supply) will boost in all major cities & towns.

Although summer is hot enough where I am located & It was difficult to travel open-air during day time but there are many good things that I like abut it. For example the fruits & vegetables, the cool mango juice, chilling water melons. Tomatoes plants & fried ladyfinger is my favorite. & yes how can I forget going to river side with friends for hunting fish

I believe that telecom sector is doing well in connecting people, specially folks who belongs to underdeveloped countries. I remember 10 years before in my country when the cellular companies was not functional at their best & when there was no mobile phone coverage in remote areas. the landline telephone is the only option for communication. It was very difficult to make a call from a landline telephone to a friend that lived in europe or america. Similarly the call rates were very much high as compare to the current tariffs & you cant be sure that your call will not drop during conversation. This is infect very fortunate to see that due to the boom in telecommunication industry in the past few years very positive changes occurs in our life. In one hand it provides path for employment to young graduates, revenue generation for business personals & on the other hand a cell phone makes it easy to communicate with people in home country as well as across the world in very reasonable cost.

Other then that thingsI would like to share with you folks is the trade of second hand mobile phones which is at its full boom these days, specially in my country a large no of people is doing this business ranging from small scale to big trade outlets, they are seen both in large cities as well small town or villages. Similarly Websites like Brinked & many others are famous amongst youngsters to download ringtones, wallpapers & mobile themes of their own choice. At every market there is a shop or a stall at big stores where you can buy or sell your used mobile phone. these vendors also sells a variety of mobile accessories, One can also get the prepaid GSM connections & voucher cards of all the telecom companies from there, they also provide mobile repairing services. Yes they advice you as well about the newly launched models of cell phones in the market.

There are some negative aspects as well, Since a cell phone is portable so for that reason this can be considered as the only communication tool that can gear up the criminal activities & terrorism. Similarly the young generation is more then addicted with mobile phones, they often seems wasting their precious time by sending meaningless SMS to their friends all the day & night, the free call services by some telecom operators during night time can rightly be tagged as an act of destroying the moral character of youth, it is often seen that due to the cheap call rates (or even free) the students of the opposite sex in school & universities get involve in each other & attempt to encounter immoral acts which affect their academic activities & learning skills & thus distroys their professional carrier in long run.

Well, no one is perfect & complete in this world. When we talk about perfection in life, every one lacks something or they just doom not to be satisfied from what they are & what they do, but however despite this fact there are some aspects in our personality that makes us superior at various situations in life. The main thing is to manage the way we think and to see how we observe the world. Like anger management, I personally feel that if one can manage themselves in stressful moments & posses the guts to control anger within any unwanted situation, he is perfect. A match stick has a head but not a brain so at a time when we get angry we need to know ourselves.

This article is for my own acknowledgement as well because like others I also think I am not perfect when it came to anger management. Although being angry is a normal human act & a part of our emotions but it is better to manage it to its best end, because it

View of sobra city colony (1970)

I believe time can change everything, the buildings, infrastructure, the people & demography as well. Tarbela is a small valley at the north west of Pakistan which is divided in to colonies at different areas for residential purpose. Sobra city colony is the one where i along with my family is living from the past 20 years. So in fact i grown up here & witnessed many changes. Most of the old friends have been moved to other places. All the people who lived here has great attachment with this place. Tarbela dam is well known as the world largest earth filled dam. In 1970s during the construction of tarbela dam (a mega project in the word at that time) sobra city used to be the residential colony of foreigners who works with different companies associated with the construction of dam. the construction of dam is the joint venture of Italian, German, French, and Swiss companies, of which the Italian company IMPREGILO was the main Sponsor. After the dam construction was completed & it starts generating electricity, then all its administration & monitoring has been handed over to the government of Pakistan entity (WAPDA), the water & power development authority.

This article, in particular, is dedicated to those people who lived here in past & has great memories about tarbela. I have some pictures to share with all those who love to see how tarbela, specially the sobra city colony will be looking after 30 years. Unfortunately some of the old places are demolished due to no public use & proper maintenance. You can see the locations with a comparison of old with the recent picture. At yet sobra city church, city club swimming pool, sobra city commissary, sobra city hill club & briefing hall. I will soon update this post with pictures of other locations like mehran colony tarbela, sanober colony tarbela & right bank colony pictures as well.
