Cars & more cars
Pakistan is now the no 1 CNG (compressed natural gas) consumer in the world, this fact revealed that the no of vehicles has increased tremendously in the past few years. there are many factors involved in it, the increase in per ca-pita income that ultimately leads to increase in demand, the increase in manufacturing capacity by local car manufacturers, the trend towards car financing & leasing by several financial institutions in Pakistan while on the other hand many car importers tends to import japanese used cars which is famous for its durability & quality of manufacturing & obviously for its low price. so when all these factors are gathered we found large no of cars on roads. cars showrooms, bargain centers & online forums gmc envoy etc. while the increase in car manufacturing & foreign trade has its own pros & cons.
yes! no one can deny that quick mean of transportation is essential for every growing nation but when there is a crowd traffic how can one reach to the desired destination quickly & without any hassle, so in my opinion that’s the main problem in cities like Peshawar, Karachi, Rawalpindi & Lahore especially, one the other hand, japanese cars! though it has a sound market demand in Pakistan but it is harmful for the local car industry. pak suzuki & indus motors are the major victims. the government however impose trade restrictions on car import but car smuggling & other illegal trade cant be controlled unless & until the pak-afghan border be made secure because its the main way, cars being smuggled from japan to Dubai, then Dubai to Afghanistan & finally Afghanistan to Pakistan. now lets talk about some positive aspects. the cars importers made it easy for buyers to get the latest models of luxurious cars in less price like MERCEDEZ, BMW, JAGUAR , NISSAN as well as out class models of TOYOTA. car smuggling is the major source of used spare parts in Pakistan. the shuba bazar at Peshawar, gawal mandi at Rawalpindi & kabari bazar situated at Lahore are the few examples where accidental & ordinary engine & body parts are available at very reasonable price & offcourse they’re better in quality in comparison with Pakistani made new parts.
